How did you learn about Montessori?

I learned about Montessori from an ECE professor at my local community college. She always had these amazing solutions to my childcare woes and they all stemmed from the Montessori philosophy.

Where did you take your training?

I trained with Dr. Sylvia Dubovoy at the Montessori Institute of San Diego, CA. She is intensely inspiring and an amazing leader in the Montessori world.

What do you love about Montessori?

I love the immense respect the philosophy shows to all living beings and how it guides children to develop a lifelong love of learning. With this learning, they are shown to trust themselves and know that all they need is within them.

3 things you cannot live without?

My family, the great outdoors, and laughter.

Favorite trip you’ve ever taken?

The year my husband and I got married we went on a two week road trip across the United States from Santa Cruz, CA to Raleigh, NC. We stopped in Las Cruces, NM to eat where Billy the Kid used to hang out, in New Orleans, LA to have beignets, Memphis to see Graceland and so many other places in between! It was long, epic and definitely marked off some bucket list items. And seeing so much of this amazing country was unforgettable!

Favorite Local Place?

My favorite place to go so far in Phoenix is the Desert Botanical Garden

Any other schooling, degrees or training?

I have a BA in History from University of California, Santa Barbara and a Masters in Montessori Education from Loyola University.
