History of Aldea Montessori

In 2001, Ms. Donna arrived in Phoenix, ready to join forces with an existing Montessori school in the Valley. But as she toured facilities and spoke with administrators, it became clear that her vision of fully-implemented Montessori was different than the other schools. And so, Aldea Montessori was born–serving children 18 months through 6 years.
From the moment of its conception, Aldea Montessori was different–hardwood floors, bright white furniture, home-like feel in the classrooms, and exceptional staff. But that wasn’t enough. Because the word “Montessori” can be used by anyone, we wanted to guarantee to our families that we were bringing them the best of Maria Montessori’s vision. In our first year, we sought and received Recognition status with the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI)–the world standard for Montessori.

Ever since, Aldea Montessori has maintained that international recognition and standard of excellence. We continue to provide children with the best in Montessori, believing that every child has a genius inside that is waiting to be unlocked and nurtured. We work with parents to ensure that parenting is not a chore, but a joy. And we go out of our way to find scholarship money so that ANY child can have the advantage of Montessori.

Aldea Montessori added our Spanish Immersion program in 2010. 50% of the staff in each classroom speak only Spanish with the children and as a result, the children begin to understand and speak the language. But mastering the Spanish language is only part of the story: developing the language centers in the brain is the real goal. Maria Montessori believed that any child could learn multiple languages with ease if they were exposed to at least two languages during their earliest development.

Aldea Montessori is a home-away-from-home to 70+ children on a daily basis. It is a place where parents and children make life-long friends and staff members become parenting partners. We hope you will visit us and see if Aldea is right for your family.
